So I'm asking for these for Christmas, assuming they ship to the US. At current conversion rates, I think they're about $80ish. I want the blue to match my car, but is that too dorky? Are driving gloves in general too dorky? My hands get clammy in the cold weather and these would genuinely help.

I say, if the glove fits, wear it!
Driving gloves aren't really my thing, but my opinion might change if I had a Triumph, Austin Healey, or maybe an old Jag.

From the outside in, wearing driving gloves can make anyone look weird/dorky but that doesn't matter because racecar. If you really think they will help and you want them then get them who cares what other think. Plus they probably will make you feel like a badass even if you're driving a golf cart around.

I don't think driving gloves are too dorky. They serve a purpose and work well for that purpose!
Now for the color question... is your car exterior or interior blue (that which you are trying to match)? Matchy matchy stuff has the potential to get dorky and ugly.

Are you racing, like on a track?
No?
They they're dorky.

Whenever I see old TV shows from the 60s and 70s, everybody seems to be wearing driving gloves. Is that because a lot of cars lacked power steering and driving was harder on the hands, or was it just a fashion thing?

If you feel uncomfortable driving with the ice cold steering wheel, buy them, and don't mind what other people say. But i wouldn't buy some. I do not know the answer to your question about jalops, but i give you my opinion.

They probably won't look as weird as bright red fireproof racing gloves on the street which I may or may not have done.

They do ship to the US. I got mine in about 6 days. They don't give you any shipping info or notifications annoyingly though. The day I was going to e-mail them they showed up. It should be cheaper because the price on their site includes a bunch of bs UK taxes. Do it.

Matching your gloves to the interior of your car is way too metrosexual for me. Black or brown. Preferably black.

Are they fireproof? Get them for if you ever want to track day or anything.
Otherwise, since they're leather I'm not sure having clammy hands would be helped by having such gloves.

I kept a pair in my STi's glovebox (ha!) because I had a Titanium* shift knob.
Summer and winter were murderous without the gloves.

A good question. I think back then the kind of gloves we're talking about were the approximate equivalent of wearing modern race gear:
Obviously a bit more normal looking than these:
So I guess it would be less ridiculous to wear a pair in the car. More like wearing one of these today, perhaps:

The blues are so close that it's hard to pass up, but I also like the caramel color they call Cognac.

Because Racecar is what I was thinking. The windows will be tinted soon anyway so people wont really be able to see. It's for me, not them.

I was going to suggest a dark tan. That's super classic looking. Go for it.

My hands are constantly uncomfortable in the winter. I'm almost thankful that my shift knob is plastic and not aluminum.

If I had a heated wheel I'd probably live with it, but these should definitely help. My shift knob is plastic but I'd like to find an aluminum one if possible.

It'd help as far as gripping the wheel. And I don't plan on tracking the car so fireproof isn't a concern. I just always thought they were cool, but in a dorky old school kind of way.

Hah aluminum, the mac laptop is untouchable when i've just turned it on. What i do on the car is aim the ac vents to where i place my hands on the wheel.

If this is your car's interior, then go for it:
... maybe a flowchart would be better. Substitute "driving gloves" for "pan flute."

I hear the rule that they are only to be used if there is wood in your hands.

I don't think they're that stylish on a modern car. If you have a wood steering wheel, maybe. Definitely if we're talking a sports car that's more than 40 years old, or a Lotus... maybe even a Miata. That said, your hands get cold, right? Wear some gloves for your cold hands, I don't care what they look like. I have knit handwarmers.
I can't say mine are any cooler-looking than yours would be.

The wool would slide around on my leather steering wheel though. I've tried.

Indeed. I'm probably going to get them just because I've always wanted them. Hell, I recently bought a BB gun just because I've always wanted one. The most I've done with it is shoot some water bottles in the back yard.

Autocrossing in 100F+ weather in a car with bare metal everything, and a sandpaper-like steering wheel made me wear my racing gloves. I was sweating like crap inside of them, but at least my hands weren't sliding around on the wheel. Plus they make you feel invincible, kind of like a fullface helmet and 5pt harness. Still doesn't have anything on a 2 layer firesuit though.

If you've got unassisted steering or a wooden wheel, they'd be fine. Wearing gloves in a modern car with power steering and soft leather or plastic seems a little douchey to me.
But hey, it's your life, and I'm a random guy on the internet.
